Escape to Africa for 12 weeks of riding and living on the Wild Coast South Africa.

Are you wondering what to do with yourself and have been thinking of escaping for a couple of months, and the thought of living like a local while riding and looking after top class trails horses ticks all your boxes?

We have a long history of volunteers and doing working riding holidays on the Wild Coast. Julie-Anne has shared her home, horses and lifestyle with riders from all over the world for over 24 years. In fact, many have stayed on to work with us and there have been a few who fell in love with a local and are still here! Then there are the many, many riders who have become friends and love our way of life in this tiny, friendly village on the edge of Africa. Some have returned to volunteer again, others have came back to visit with family and friends. One thing is certain; The Wild Coast is a magical place of wild seas, sandy beaches, spectacular views, warm hearted people and wonderful horses.

We need your help to look after our amazing team of trail horses, are you keen?

 The following candidates will be considered

• Over 21 years old

• Drivers licence

• First Aid certificate is required.

• Good, fit Intermediate or advanced rider with solid background in flat work schooling and ground work.

• An equine qualification or equivalent experience.

• You will be assisting our guides with the day to day care of the horses, schooling, fitness training & taking local holiday makers on beach rides, as well as assisting with hosting of our trail and riding guests. 

• Applicants with an outgoing, friendly personality with previous experience in a riding school or trail/safari yard will be highly considered.

• Applications are screened to ensure that they meet our high standards of riding and horsemanship.

TERMS & OFFER

• You come to SA on a 90-day holiday visa - and stay for at least 12 weeks (84 nights).

• You pay for your own travelling expenses to and from East London South Africa.

• We will arrange for you to be picked up at the East London airport.

• A non-refundable fee is payable to confirm your place. (25% deposit and balance paid 30 days before you arrive) This is a legal requirements for a 90 day holiday visa on entry to South Africa  and covers the very basic expenses for your stay with us.

• You will get to ride as backup/groom on at least one confirmed multi-day trail along the Wild Coast.

• You will get dinner, accommodation, breakfast & laundry. Breakfast is help yourself self catering.  Home cooked dinners are  provided  on week nights and if you are hosting riding guests. Weekends are more relaxed and flexible and you can cook for yourself or go out to one of the local restaurants.

• There is a small supermarket close by for snacks and lunch items and local coffee shops for other treats. (Meals/food/snacks at local restaurants, pubs & shops are not included)

• You have your own bedroom in a shared house and access to free Wi-Fi.

• You will need your own money for spending/lunch/snacks/drinks/weekends/dinners out etc.

• You do not receive any payment, but you can keep any tips.

• You will be a team member and expected to work with the other staff and assist and attend to guests who are staying with us.

• You will be assisting our guides with the day to day care of the horses (groom & feeding), schooling, fitness training & taking local holiday makers on beach rides.

• You will have days off to fit in with how busy we are. You may collect days off if you want to do a trip somewhere else while in SA.
