The Wild Coast:
Where You're Still a Guest, Not a Number

2025 may be drawing to an end, but many of the travel trends that defined this year aren’t going anywhere just because the New Year is on the horizon.

Over the past few blogs, we’ve discussed various trends, from solo travel for women, to the rise of the bravecation, and how travellers are increasingly choosing real, grounded experiences over glossy, Instagram-ready hotspots.

But there’s one trend we haven’t touched on yet — and it might just be the most relevant of all: the return of off-the-beaten-track destinations.

Why Pioneering Travellers Are Heading Off the Beaten Track

After the global surge in overtourism, travellers are craving places where they can breathe. Places where they’re welcomed wholeheartedly, rather than hurried through or even met with resistance. And who could blame them? Where’s the joy in jostling with thousands of strangers for a selfie at the Eiffel Tower when you could be inhaling fresh sea air on a deserted Wild Coast beach?

And it’s not just the beaches that feel different here. When you walk into your hotel at the end of the day, the staff are genuinely glad to see you — because the Wild Coast isn’t a mass-tourism destination. These small, intimate lodges don’t just tolerate travellers; they rely on and appreciate them. Your presence matters. You’re part of the rhythm, not just another number.

The New Luxury: Space to Simply Be

This shift toward quieter, more authentic travel is happening everywhere. In the Netherlands, visitors are trading Amsterdam’s crowded canals for the slower charm of Breda where they’re guaranteed a warm welcome as well as waterways. In Spain, more travellers are drifting away from Catalonia and discovering the wild, green coastline around Bilbao.

Even in the UK, holidaymakers are choosing the gentle pace of Norfolk or small Scottish towns like Ballater over Cornwall’s packed beaches.

People are no longer chasing the place to be — they’re seeking the place where they can simply be.

Don't Get Lost In The Process

And while horse-riding holidays rarely get as overcrowded as Barcelona in high summer or the Canary Islands in peak season, some equestrian operations have become so focused on delivering a “product” that the riders themselves can get a little lost in the process.

I once went on a horse-riding holiday where no one asked about my riding ability or what kind of horse I preferred. I tried to drop a few hints — mentioning I loved small, quick ponies — and still ended up with a chunky schoolmaster who was about as far from my dream horse as you can get. And while I understand you can’t please everyone all the time, I couldn’t help feeling a little unseen — like the connection I was hoping for simply wasn’t available as part of the experience.

I’m pleased to say, that just doesn’t happen on the Wild Coast.

This Isn’t a Package — It’s a Pilgrimage

Every detail you share with us — whether through your agent or directly — is used to create the holiday (and the horse partnership) of your dreams.

Because this coastline isn’t simply off the beaten track — it’s where the track ends and the adventure begins.

Here, you ride to places few people outside local communities have ever seen. You explore hidden coves, secret bays, and cliff paths framed by ancient grasslands. You move at a pace that reflects you, not a timetable.

We don’t force you into a rigid, pre-packaged itinerary.

We let the tides guide our timing, the weather shape our days, and the joy of the ride lead our rhythm.

If we’re galloping, laughing, and the horses are dancing beneath us, we don’t stop because a schedule says we should.

If we reach a breathtaking headland and the moment calls for stillness — we stay.

Discover a Quieter Type of Luxury

We keep our groups small enough that your voice is heard, your preferences matter, and your presence is noticed. Not only do we know your name before you arrive — we know your riding style, your confidence level, your pace, your hopes. We don’t just find you a horse; we match you to your horse.

So not only will you find the space you’ve been craving — you’ll meet a horse who fits you so perfectly you’ll be plotting ways to take him home and making everyone back home jealous with the love story that unfolds.

Where some trails squeeze in as many riders as possible, we prefer a quieter kind of luxury. We work with spacious local hotels where, more often than not, you’ll have your own room — without paying extra for what we believe should never be a luxury: the space to rest, exhale, and simply be.

Empty beaches, not queues.
Trails shaped around you, not the majority.
A holiday that feels personal — because it is.

The Wild Coast isn’t “off-grid.”
It’s simply unspoiled.

Ride where the track ends
— and the real journey begins
